The Stonewall Inn’s Nonprofit Program Joined CSW/LA Pride to Create a Panel Discussion on Corporate Responsibility to the LGBTQ+ Community
March 8, Los Angeles, CA- LA Pride and The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative joined forces to take a deep dive into what corporations are doing for the LGBTQ+ community. Senior executives from some of America’s top businesses participated in the panel discussion and revealed what their companies are doing to further LGBTQ+ rights, equity and visibility, and how businesses can strengthen their support through corporate responsibility.
CSW Board of Directors President, Sharon-Franklin Brown, and The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative CEO, Stacy Lentz gave opening remarks before launching into a lively panel discussion with executives working in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from JetBlue, Mastercard, Nike, Nationwide, Unilever, T-Mobile, the Milwaukee Bucks, and Entercom.
During the discussion, the panels guests shared their company’s best practices and strategies for supporting their LGBTQ+ communities and employees: from hiring, to sensitivity training, to investment in the community, to internally supporting their own employee resource groups and business resource groups.
How can Pride organizations partner with sponsors to make a meaningful change in the culture? How can corporate sponsorship dollars have local community impact? Pride organizations, corporate sponsors, and anyone interested in learning what businesses are doing to support and lift the LGBTQ+ community will want to watch this meaningful discussion.
The panel was produced in partnership with Radio.com and Channel Q, hosted by Channel Q personality, AJ Gibson, and recorded “live to tape” via Zoom. The fun program will be available on March 11. Registration is free and open to all. Go here to register.
About Christopher Street West (CSW)/LA Pride
Christopher Street West (CSW), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, organized the world’s first permitted parade advocating for gay rights on June 28, 1970, in commemoration of the Stonewall Rebellion in New York City the year prior. Since then, CSW has become an important voice for the LGBTQ+ community of Greater Los Angeles, and continues to produce one of the largest Pride celebrations in the county, LA Pride Parade & Festival, every June (albeit virtually in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). CSW also organizes, supports or sponsors a number of events throughout the year with their nonprofit, philanthropic, community, and corporate partners.
About The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative
The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI) is a nonprofit organization inspired by the struggles and ideals of the LGBTQ rights movement born from the Stonewall Inn Uprising of 1969. They are committed to eliminating the social intolerance that is profoundly impacting the lives of LGBTQ citizens throughout America and abroad. Through awareness campaigns, educational programming, fundraising and candid public dialogue, SIGBI support grassroots organizations scattered across the country, especially in communities where progress toward equality has been slow and the negative impact of ongoing acts of discrimination and harassment can no longer be tolerated.
