LA Pride recognizes and observes World AIDS Day today. LGBTQ+ communities have been impacted and affected for decades, and we hold space to commemorate those lives lost and to celebrate those living and thriving with HIV/AIDS. We also send thanks to those individuals who have dedicated their lives to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We are heartbroken to learn that at least 5 people were killed and many more injured at Club Q in Colorado Springs last night. Today on Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resilience, we not only commemorate and honor those lost to transphobia, but we are also sending our love to everyone impacted by this senseless and tragic act of gun violence.

LA Pride strives to create safe and inclusive spaces of self-expression, celebration, diversity, equity, and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community much like Club Q, and we lend our support to our family and community in Colorado Springs during this difficult time.

In celebration of #TransAwarenessMonth, we have partnered with @neuehouse to present "Todes Juntes: Salimatu, Janpi, Juanita, Honey, Julián, Vertel, Juan, Matti, Alex y yo (2022)”, a monumental public mural on the Sunset Strip by artist Marcel Pardo Ariza (@marcelpardoa). At nearly 90 feet long and 40 feet tall, the mural pays tribute to activists and politicians, mothers and drag queens, artists and writers past and present to show the beauty, strength, and kinship within the Trans community.
