LA Pride mourns the loss of LA's ground-breaking LGBTQ+ icon, Jewel Thais-Williams.

Our 2016 LA Pride Grand Marshal, Jewel Thais-Williams overcame discrimination at the local gay bars for being Black, and being a woman, by buying her own bar in 1973. Jewel's Catch One soon became the hottest, most inclusive LGBTQ+ club in the nation, welcoming everyone from the Black and Brown trans community, to celebrities like Madonna and Sharon Stone. For the next FIFTY YEARS, Thais-Williams worked as an AIDS activist, especially for HIV+ women, and created the Village Health Foundation to educate lower-income and minority communities on nutrition, diabetes and obesity.

Jewel Thais-Williams was a shining example of what one person can do. Rest in Power, Queen. 🙏 👑 ✨ 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

The Parade may have ended, but the celebration was just getting started 🌈💖🎉

Just steps from the route, LA Pride Village came alive with music, movement, art, and community. From morning to night, the energy was unstoppable🏳️‍🌈

Two stages. Two bars. Over 100 vendors and exhibitors. Rows of food trucks. Immersive art. Live performances. Interactive moments. Everywhere you turned, something was happening and everyone who showed up brought the joy🔥

The Music Stage delivered all-day performances from headliner ALASKA, rising stars like 76TH STREET, and a packed lineup of artists, DJs, and drag icons that kept the streets moving💅

Our third annual Ballroom Battle brought the house down, with Houses Miyake Mugler, Gorgeous Gucci, and Ninja showing up and showing out in Runway, Performance, Sex Siren, and Face. It was a celebration of history, culture, and power💋

And Bring the T, our latest Trans Galleria exhibition, gave space to trans artists sharing work that was fearless, personal, and deeply moving. A reminder of the strength and visibility at the heart of Pride🏳️‍⚧️

Thank you to everyone who came through and made LA Pride Village unforgettable!
