Exclusive after-hours theme park experience welcomes LGBTQ+ community to #JUSTBE on June 2, helping to launch LA Pride Week 2018!
March 22, WEST HOLLYWOOD – Today, Christopher Street West (CSW), the 501(c)3 non-profit that produces the annual LA Pride Festival and Parade, announces the return of PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL on Saturday, June 2 at the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. Now in its second year, PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL gives LA’s LGBTQ+ community a reason to start celebrating Pride early, helping to build momentum in the lead up to the big LA Pride weekend a week later. This is just one of many fun community events that the LA Pride team has up their sleeves to celebrate LA Pride Week 2018, June 1-10.
Tickets for PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL are now on sale! Get them before this popular event sells out! PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL is open to all ages, but ID is required for guests 21+ for cash bar access.
Each PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL ticket gets you all-day access to the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park – gates open at 9 am – plus exclusive after-hours park access from 9 pm to 1 am for PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL ticket holders only. This unique experience includes live DJ’s, dance clubs, cash bars, character meet-n-greets, and many more fun surprises. “Universal Express” tickets, which give priority access to all rides and attractions, are also available for purchase.
“PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL is such a cool experience,” says Erica Meyer, CSW Board Member. “I took my teenage daughter last year, and we had a blast. It was so fun having the entire park reserved for celebrating Pride with the LGBTQ+ community, our friends, and our families. We loved it!”
“Comcast NBCUniversal has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. We are proud to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community and are especially excited to partner with LA Pride on PRIDE IS UNIVERSAL for the second year in a row,” says Kristin Wygal and Mike Pirone, OUT@NBCUniversal Southern California Leaders. “It is an honor to become part of the LA Pride Week tradition.”
This event doubles as a fundraiser for CSW. A portion of event proceeds will benefit community-wide programs like the CSW philanthropy, Casa del Sol, a joint project with APLA Health that provides low-income housing to people living with HIV/AIDS.
“This is an event that no one should miss. Whether this is your first or tenth time visiting Universal Studios Hollywood, you probably haven’t ever experienced Universal Studios Hollywood quite like this,” says Chris Classen, CSW Board President. “Can’t imagine a better way to kick off LA Pride Week 2018!”
LA Pride Week 2018 is a week-long celebration that culminates with the two-day LA Pride Festival (June 9-10) – Kehlani and Tove Lo are confirmed to headline – and the return of the beloved LA Pride Parade (June 10).

About Christopher Street West (CSW) & LA Pride
Christopher Street West (CSW), a 501(c)3 non-profit, organized the world’s first permitted parade advocating for gay rights on June 28, 1970, as a response to and in commemoration of the Stonewall Rebellion on Christopher Street in New York City the year prior. Since then, we have built a rich history as an active voice for the LGBTQ+ community across the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Today, we continue to produce the globally-recognized LA Pride Parade and Festival every June in the City of West Hollywood. We also organize a number of events throughout the year with our non-profit, philanthropic, community, and corporate partners. Visit lapride.org for more information.
