LOS ANGELES (Jan. 18, 2023) LA Pride won “Best Regional Pride,” by the voters in the Los Angeles Blade’s “Best of LGBTQ LA 2023, Readers’ Choice Awards.” Over 20,000 readers voted on everything from Best Brunch to Best Realtor, but when it came to voting for “Best Pride,” the readers responded favorably to the oldest organization, (established in 1970,) LA Pride.

The 2022 LA Pride Parade left West Hollywood and returned to its roots on Hollywood Blvd. for the first time since 1984. Stepping off at the corner of Hollywood and Cahuenga, over 130 contingents walked, marched, danced, and rolled down Hollywood Blvd., Highland Avenue, and Sunset Blvd. Over 130,000 spectators enjoyed the Parade in-person, and thousands more watched the event live on KABC, LA Pride’s longtime media partner and broadcaster.

Readers also seemed to be excited by the LA Pride Festival, branded “LA Pride in the Park” for 2022 and held at the Los Angeles State Historic Park.

Festival goers enjoyed sunshine, give-aways, music, and more on 20 acres of green space

Electrifying performances by Christina Aguilera, Anitta, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Rebecca Black, Bob the Drag Queen, and over 20 other acts performed on two stages. Approximately 20,000 ticketed fans were in attendance for the one day/night event.

Pride fans were treated to live music all afternoon, and into the evening, headlined by Christina Aguilera

LA Pride won Best Pride by a narrow margin, coming in a mere handful of votes ahead of West Hollywood’s inaugural Weho Pride, while other readers cast their votes across a field that included DTLA Proud, Long Beach Pride, Palm Springs Pride, and write-ins for Ojai and other cities.

No matter the votes, there is enough Pride to go around, and LA Pride congratulates all the Prides for continuing to celebrate and honor our LGBTQ+ communities, near and far.

About Christopher Street West (CSW)/LA Pride:

Christopher Street West (CSW), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, organized the world’s first permitted parade advocating for gay rights on June 28, 1970, to commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion on Christopher Street in New York City the year prior.
