We’re proud to announce Gerald Garth (@garthdotgerald) has been elected as LA Pride’s next Board President! 🏳️‍🌈

Gerald first joined the Board of Directors in 2017, serving as Treasurer for three years, before being elected as Vice President of Community Programs and Initiatives, the organization’s first. ✨

Opening up about his new role as Board President, he says, “It has been a joy to develop community programs and partnerships with LA Pride. As President, I am excited to lead the organization as we continue to grow and evolve, building on the great work of the decades before, with groundbreaking events, activities, and experiences. As we commemorate the years behind us, we celebrate the years ahead of us. Happy Pride!” 🌈

LA Pride recognizes and observes World AIDS Day today. LGBTQ+ communities have been impacted and affected for decades, and we hold space to commemorate those lives lost and to celebrate those living and thriving with HIV/AIDS. We also send thanks to those individuals who have dedicated their lives to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. LA Pride is committed to organizing and supporting events and experiences for the LGBTQ+ community throughout the entire year.

We are heartbroken to learn that at least 5 people were killed and many more injured at Club Q in Colorado Springs last night. Today on Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resilience, we not only commemorate and honor those lost to transphobia, but we are also sending our love to everyone impacted by this senseless and tragic act of gun violence.

LA Pride strives to create safe and inclusive spaces of self-expression, celebration, diversity, equity, and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community much like Club Q, and we lend our support to our family and community in Colorado Springs during this difficult time.

In celebration of #TransAwarenessMonth, we have partnered with @neuehouse to present "Todes Juntes: Salimatu, Janpi, Juanita, Honey, Julián, Vertel, Juan, Matti, Alex y yo (2022)”, a monumental public mural on the Sunset Strip by artist Marcel Pardo Ariza (@marcelpardoa). At nearly 90 feet long and 40 feet tall, the mural pays tribute to activists and politicians, mothers and drag queens, artists and writers past and present to show the beauty, strength, and kinship within the Trans community.

Head to our link in bio to watch the full video and learn more about Marcel, the mural, and NeueHouse’s #CaringFutures initiative.
