The 7-time NCAA All-American and Out LBGTQ+ Advocate is Running for Pride

LA Pride Is Giving Aways LA Pride Gear to the Fastest, the Best Dressed, and the Most Generous

LOS ANGELES, October 9, 2020 – Nikki Hiltz, the 7-time NCAA All American middle distance runner has joined Pride Stride, the first-of-its-kind LGBTQ+ virtual 5k/10k.

An out athlete and LGBTQ+ advocate, Hiltz is known for her 2015 NCAA Division 1 and Pac-12 Conference Track and Field Team Championship, and winning her event at multiple invitationals including the Husky Classic, the 2019 Bryan Clay Invitational, the 2019 USATF Distance Classic, the 2019 Adrian Martinez Classic, and the 2019 Sunset Tour. As of 2019, Hiltz was ranked 19th in the world in the 1500 meter.

By running in Pride Stride, Hiltz is joining LA Pride and over 30 other LGBTQ+ Pride organizations from across America to commemorate National Coming Out Day on Sunday, October 11, 2020.

LA Pride president Sharon-Franklin Brown applauds the combination of honoring National Coming Out Day with a healthy, virtual event for everyone, “We’re leading the effort to get people moving and help them get out, figuratively and literally, across the country to safely show their pride in solidarity with this event.”

The unique aspect of Pride Stride’s virtual format lets everyone walk or run at their own leisure, without worrying about crowds or a time limit. There is no official route, allowing people to walk or run in their own neighborhood, or even on a treadmill.

LA Pride recently added a chance for participants to win prizes.

The top (3) fastest times uploaded by registrants for the 5k and 10 k will each win LA Pride shirts and hats.

Less athletic, but equally competitive, the (10) best outfits posted on LA Pride’s social media will win LA Pride t-shirts. (Prize colors may vary.)

A portion of each Pride Stride registration fee will benefit a local Pride 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, helping to sustain them and support the work they do for their LGBTQ+ community. Participants can make additional donations, and LA Pride is giving away a customized hand sanitizing station to the top LA Pride Stride donor.

All participants will receive a swag bag featuring themed Pride Stride finishers medal, plus a fanny pack and more. Registration is now open at Pridestride.org and will continue through November. Follow @pridestrideofficial on Facebook and Instagram.

About Christopher Street West (CSW) & LA Pride

Christopher Street West (CSW), a 501(c)3 non-profit, organized the world’s first permitted parade advocating for gay rights on June 28, 1970, as a response to and in commemoration of the Stonewall Rebellion on Christopher Street in New York City the year prior. Since then, we have built a rich history as an active voice for the LGBTQ+ community across the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Today, we continue to produce the globally-recognized LA Pride Parade and Festival every June. We also organize a number of events throughout the year with our non-profit, philanthropic, community, and corporate partners.
